Major Powers and International Security

This course will focus on the seven major powers in today’s world: the U.S., the European Union, China, Russia, Japan, India and Brazil and their roles and influence on international affairs, with a particular focus on international security. Students will examine the development and strategy of the seven major powers in the world across economic, social, political and technological issues. The course will then focus on the foreign and security strategy of each nation and finally, on the impact of each nation in the world. Specific attention will be paid to regional and international security, including global political/economic development, international relations, and the peace and stability of other nations, regions and the rest of the world.
